About the Role:
We're on a mission at Dow Jones to provide the world's most trusted journalism, data and analysis to help people make decisions. As part of the Global Communications Team, you'll have a unique opportunity to help shape and tell the Dow Jones story across internal and external audiences. In this newly formed role, you will support the day-to-day functions of a busy communications team and gain valuable hands-on experience and a front-row seat to all aspects of the profession. You'll be joining a team that is high-performing, creative, collaborative, curious, kind and fun. In turn, you will possess those same traits.
You Will:
Be jointly reporting to the internal and external communications teams, supporting the team globally, and based in our New York City Office (hybrid)
Monitor and record all external media placements, create media coverage reports and track key metrics associated with campaigns
Generate and maintain media lists and databases
Support the team in drafting press materials (press releases, media alerts, pitch notes, briefing docs, etc.)
Contribute to our corporate social media strategy development, helping to source updates from across the team, draft copy for posts and track/measure engagement
Research and draft company and executive award submissions
Build and publish the company newsletter and articles on the company intranet
Manage office digital signs
Pull analytics reports for all internal communication channels
Design and edit graphics in Canva to support our intranet articles
Assist in maintaining and updating Communications team shared drives and resources
Conduct research on media trends and identify potential publicity opportunities
Provide administrative support to the team VPs and the Communications team as needed
You Have:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, journalism or equivalent related field
0-2 years of professional experience, but ideally a demonstrated interest in the profession, perhaps from interviews, student groups, etc.
Internship in public relations or communications strongly preferred
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Equally strong organizational skills and a very high attention to detail
Experience working with video editing and design programs to create digital assets
Interest in working at a global company and the media industry
An ability to multitask, juggling multiple responsibilities across different projects, teams and timelines
A bias towards action and a curiosity to learn, innovate and challenge the status quo (when appropriate)
Strong judgment and discretion with sensitive information
